The "Junction" is one of Chico's historic neighborhoods. Intersections of arrows and lines within the
circle represent the historic crossroads of Chico. Old highway 99 now, Main and Broadway,
and called Park Avenue on the south end;
Highway 32 now 8th and 9th streets name the axis of north, south, east and
west. Humbolt Road
in red -- a striking reminder of the old
stage route into Chico from the Mt. Lassen
area. The little Chico
creek offering a bit of nature in its organic line next to man made lines of
streets, and buildings. In contemporary Chico the
"Junction" neighborhood is a mix of artisans, housing, and commerce
an intersection of the arts and trade, an environment of visuals and sounds and
the axis to the center of the city.
