Oak Leaf-by Tracy Hansen

Oak Leaf-by Tracy Hansen

The mighty oak creates fabulous leaf
shapes and beautiful acorns. The three sections on the flag are a nod to
the Italian flag and the inspiration from Sienna,
Italy for the
Chico Palio. The acorn, the abundant seed that nourished the original Chicoans,
was a fitting motif to pair with the leaf on the left side of the flag. Flanking
the spectacular oak leaf in the center, is the globe with continents shaped
like oak leaves, to remind us of our beautiful, cherished home, of our oneness,
as well as our critical relationship with the plants that provide the oxygen
that sustains us.
